Stephen's Academy to play in Malaysia

Chandigarh, Jun 3 (UNI) A 16-member squad of St Stephen's School Football Academy will particiate in the Under-15 Manchester United Premier Cup South East Asia Qualifying Round which begins from June 5-9 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

This is for the first time that any school academy from India is participating in the prestigious tournament.

Stephen's Academy had beaten Mahindra United 1-0 in the final of Nike MUPC U-15 India Chaptar in Goa in January this year.

Teams from Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia and Hong Kong are particpating in the qualiyfing round. The winning squad will qualify for the World Final to be played at Oldtraffor, Manchester, England to be held in August.

St Stephen's School principal Harold Carver wished the team and the four officials best of luck.

Team: Rahul Anand, Manish Mundri, Golmei Mariamdun, Vikas Kumar Nishad, Nitin Kaushal, Navin Roshan Tete, Shubham Sahai Gupta, Jony Chand Singh Thounaojam, Nitin Negi, Sandesh Jhingan, Satpal Singh, Warish Rashid, Suraj Singh, Umakanta Singh Kiyam, Lanba Tuwang Samandram and Abhishek Rawat.

Officials: Surinder Singh, Sandeep Singh, Manjit Singh and Bhupinder Singh.
