Hyderabad, June 3: Officers of the State Bank of India, under the banner of the All India State Bank Officers' Federation, will observe a token strike on June six, demanding resolution of several pending issues.

The strike, to be observed in all the 10,000-odd branches/offices with over 60,000 officers working in different parts of the country, was forced on the officers' community due to lack of initiative on the part of the management in solving a number of issues, including those on which an understanding had been reached earlier, State Bank of India Officers' Association (Hyderabad Circle) General Secretary D Krishna Kumar said in a release here.

Their demands included improvements in pension scheme, reimbursement of additional rent to officers staying in their own houses, recruitment of adequate number of officers, regulating working hours for officers, absorption of contract officers in the bank as regular officers and improvement in conveyance and furniture schemes.

''In case, the bank fails to take note of the seriousness of the issues involved, the Federation will be compelled to escalate the agitation programme, including long duration strike in the bank, resulting in industrial unrest in the entire bank all over the country,'' he added.
