RCCI urges CBDT to push ahead TDS e-payment by a year
Rajkot, Jun 3 (UNI) The Rajkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) has urged the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) chairman to postpone for a year the mandatory provision regarding e-payment of Tax Deducted at Source (TDS).
The tax payers have not yet been provided passwords by the bank despite having applied for the same long back, the RCCI has pointed out.
In a letter to the CBDT chairman, RCCI president Hitesh Bagdai said 98 per cent of the tax payers have not received the passwords.
Besides, many people are not even aware of such mandatory provisions and in the rural areas there are no adequate broadband connections and Internet facilities, Mr Bagdai said. While agreeing that the electronic system was necessary to bring about transparency in the system, Mr Bagdai, however, said it should be pushed ahead for a year.
