NREGA launched in North Tripura
Agartala, Jun 3: The National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (NREGA) was launched in North Tripura with job cards to 30 families of Hirachhara and Golakpur village under tribal area autonomous district council as the first step of NREGA execution in the localities.
An official release here today said at a formal ceremony at Srirampur HS School ground yesterday, venue of Bharat Nirman Campaign of Ministry of Broadcasting, the government handed over the job cards to the selected beneficiaries.
Meanwhile, local self government (Zilla Parisad) representatives expressed concern over the fund placed for implementation of NREGA and pointed out that it was not satisfactory for payment of one mandays' work to the job cards holders.
There are about two lakh applicants for job but the fund is much less than the requirement. So, at the primary stage, only 35,500 families belonging to TTAADC villages in north Tripura district will be benefited, said North Tripura Zilla Parisad Chairman Laxman Kar.
However, work under Rojgar Guarantee Act was formally being launched in the district with distribution of mandays works at Noagaon ADC village under Panisagar block today, the officials said.
