Kolkata, Jun 3 (UNI) Intermittent moderate to heavy showers occurred over several parts of West Bengal for the past 24 hours even as Met officials predicted more showers during the next 24 hours.
The Alipore Met department recorded 61.5 mm rainfall in the state capital while forecasting similar rain or thunder showers late in the evening or at night.
''Yesterday's trough of low pressure over Northwest Bay of Bengal still persists, increasing the possibility of further rain,'' the officials said.
However, the rain failed to effect any significant decrease in the mercury levels and the day remained largely hot, humid and uncomfortable.
The maximum temperature recorded for the day was 36.9 degrees Celsius, two degrees above normal while the minimum was 24.9 degrees Celsius, two degrees below normal.
