Chennai, June 3 (UNI) In yet another bid to patch up, former Union Minister Dayanidhi Maran and his brother Kalanidhi Maran today greeted their grand uncle and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi on the occasion of his 85th birthday.
The Maran brothers, who fell out with Mr Karunanidhi after their family owned daily came out with a survey on the heir apparent of the DMK leader, called on him at his CIT colony residence, this morning.
The survey had claimed that Mr Stalin would succeed Mr Karunanidhi, while portraying Mr Karunanidhi's Madurai-based son M K Azhagiri in poor light.
Publication of the survey had led to violent incidents in Madurai and other parts of the State in May last year, after which Mr Dayanidhi Maran was forced to step down as Union IT and Communications Minister.
The family feud had also led to the birth of 'Kalaignar TV' as a rival to Sun Network, owned by Mr Kalanidhi Maran.
Ever since they fell out with the DMK leader, there were moves to bring about rapproachement, but there was no sign of the two families coming together.
When Mr Karunanidhi was admitted to hospital last month after he suffered back and neck pain, the Marans visited him at the hospital and enquired about his health.
