London, Jun 3 (UNI) A 10-member Indian men and women athletics team will begin its quest to achieve Olympic qualification in St Mary's Classic meet at Twickenham tomorrow.
St Mary's Classic is a UK Challenge event sanctioned by UK Athletes to select its team for European Cup. Considering the status of the meet, Indian runners will face stiff competition from the host country runners.
''It's our first meet and our athletes are ready. Our mission is to attain Olympic qualifying timings rather than podium position,'' said Rahul Pawar, representative of the Indian team in UK.
Coach of the Indian team Nikolai Snesarev, has expressed satisfaction in the training sessions of athletes in the last few days in London.
''St Mary's Classic would be good test event for our runners and performance in this meet will help to decide further course of training in coming days,'' said Nikolai.
