Goa Cong against SEZs: Sardinha
Panaji, Jun 3 (UNI) Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) President and MP Francisco Sardinha today said the Congress is against the setting up of Special Economic Zones (SEZs) in the state.
Mr Sardinha, while speaking to reporters here, stressed that SEZs are not in the interests of Goa. If people of the state do not want it in Goa, their wish should be respected, as they are the final judges, he underlined.
Reacting to the Bombay High Court's direction that the Goa government should decide within two weeks on the stop-work-order issued to the three controversial SEZs in the state, Mr Sardinha said Chief Minister Digamber Kamat should pursue the issue with the Centre.
He further lauded the state government for launching a scheme of providing food items and vegetables at subsidised rates to the people.
