UPCC demands BJP to step down over firing on Gujjars in Rajasthan
Lucknow, Jun 2 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee (UPCC) today demanded resignation from Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje for police firing on the Gujjar agitators seeking ST status.
UPCC president Rita Bahuguna Joshi and Congress general secretary and UP in-charge Digvijay Singh condemned the police atrocity on the Gujjar community and also passed a resolution over the same in the party meeting here.
Expressing concern over the dismal condition of the farmers, Mr Singh said, ''The party should focuss on the farmers, whose loans have not been waived off and are leading a miserable life.'' He said coming Parliamentary elections are important for the party and it should take part with planning and strategy.
