Hyderabad, Jun 2 (UNI) South West monsoon advanced into most parts of Rayalaseema and some parts of Coastal Andhra Pradesh today and is expected to cover other parts of the state in a week.
''Conditions are more favourable for advancement of the monsoon in the state,'' according to IMD officials here.
During the past 24 hours, scattered rainfall occurred over south Andhra Pradesh.
Temperature in the state had begun to dip and short spells of rain were providing respite to the people.
Above normal rains were expected in the state this year, they said.
Bapatla recorded a high rainfall of six cm, followed by Kalingapatnam three cm, Kurnool and Kakinada two each and Machilipatnam one cm.
The current meteorological analysis suggests fairly widespread rainfall activity over south Andhra Pradesh during the next 48 hours.
Hyderabad would have generally cloudy sky. Rain or thundershowers were likely in parts of the city in the next 24 hours.
The maximum temperature was likely to decline to around 36 Degree Celsius.
