Sachin gives winning trophy of Rajiv Gandhi rural cricket in UP

Amethi, June 2 (UNI) Forty-five-day long Rajiv Gandhi T20 Rural cricket today came to an end after the final match here, in which master blaster Sachin Tendulkar gave away winning trophy and Rs 3 lakh cash prize to the Sangrampur team.

Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi, sister Priyanka Vadra her husband Robert Vadra and their son Rehan enjoyed the final 20/twenty match in the Ambedkar statium here.

Indian Pacers R P Singh and Pankaj Singh along with BCCI vice president Rajiv Shukla were present during the final match played between Sangrampur block and Tiloi block teams.

While giving away the trophy to the winning team, master blaster Sachin Tendulkar praised the efforts for holding the cricket tournament and said it would certainly boost the game in rural segment.

Talking to mediaperons, Rahul said this tournament was certainly a great success as player from every nook and corner of the constituency were give a chance to play.

Rahul's nephew Rehan enjoyed every bit of the match, however, was little jittery over the big crowd.

Sachin, who was sitting next to the little fan Rehan, not only briefed him with the peculiar points in the match, but also boosted him when he felt low or nervous.

Besides, the reward of Rs 3 lakh to the winning team, Rs 1.5 lakh was given to runners up, two semi finalist teams were given 60,000 each.

Nilesh was declared the 'man of the match', he took four wickets and four catches.

Sangrampur team had set the target of 126/6 runs for the rivals, who toppled down at only 62 runs.

Congress leader Sanjay Singh and his wife and congress MLA Amita Singh also enjoyed the match.

The Rajiv Gandhi Rural T20 cricket tournament started on April 15 last, in which 1,857 teams of Amethi participated. Altogether 1,819 matches were held at 131 grounds.
