Malaria cases decline in Andaman
Port Blair, Jun 2 (UNI) An expert team from Malaria Research Centre (MRC), New Delhi, has found that the number of malaria cases was coming down in Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
An extensive survey on detection of Malaria cases, type of species and any drug resistance to the cases was recently carried out by Dr. M K Das, Incharge, Malaria Research Centre, New Delhi and his team of technicians in the islands.
Dr. Das also supervised the team from the Directorate of Health Services carrying out fogging and anti-larval activities at different places in the southern group of islands like Car Nicobar, Kamorta, Terresa and Katchal, Dr. N Sadasivan, the Director of Andaman's Health Department told UNI today.
The team visited the islands in April on the request of Andaman's Directorate of Health Services to check Malaria cases.There was official report of increase in Malaria cases in March and April at various remote islands of Nicobar Chain.
