Lt Gen Parmar new head of Army Medical Services

New Delhi, Jun 2 (UNI) Lt General Naresh Kumar Parmar today took over as Director General Medical Services (Army).

A graduate from MGM Medical College, Indore, Lt Gen Parmar was commissioned into the Army Medical Corps in July, 1970.

A decade later, he obtained a diploma in Hospital Administration from Pune University and Masters in the same from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in 1989.

He has held important posts of Training Officer at Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC), Pune; Commanding Officer of Field Hospital at Hunder (Siachen); Professor and Head of Department of Hospital Administration, AFMC Pune; Deputy Director General Medical Services (Personnel) in Directorate General of Medical Services (Army); Commandant, Command Hospital (Eastern Command); Maj General (Medical); Eastern Command and Additional Director General Armed Forces Medical Services at the Army Headquarters.

An alumnus of National Defence College, Lt Gen Parmar was awarded the Vir Chakra for his act of gallantry during the 1971 Indo-Pak War. He was also awarded the Vishist Seva Medal in 2004, and the Ati Vishist Seva Medal in 2008 for his ''unflinching dedication to the cause of service.'' UNI NAB PY AS1918
