Kathmandu, June 2 : One person died and over 50 others have fallen sick due to a diarrhea outbreak in Fulbariya of Siraha district in Nepal.
According to Nepalnews, Health assistant of local Mirchaiya health post, Suresh Singh, said that polluted drinking water from a nearby well and lack of sanitation has resulted in the outbreak of the disease.
"Most of the patients are suffering from vomiting and diarrhea together," he added.
Some of them are undergoing treatment at the Mirchaiya health post, while most of them are being treated in the village.
Bishnu Maya Pariyar, a resident said that five of her family members including her six-month-old baby have become bed-ridden with the disease.
"Almost all the people of the village have fallen sick and there is no one to take care of the patient or get them to hospital," Pariyar added.
As there are no tube-wells in the village, the residents have been forced to drink the polluted water from the well since many years.
