Sagar, MP, Jun 2 (UNI) The leader of opposition in Madhya Pradesh Assembly and Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee President Suresh Pachouri have demanded a CBI probe following the ''widespread corruption'' prevailing in the BJP-led state government's health department.
Alleging a Rs 500 crore scam in Health Department in last two years, Mr Pachouri and Ms Jamuna Devi, in a press conference, demanded the resignation of state Health Minister Ajay Vishnoi.
They alleged that despite several scam, corruption and irregularities-related complaints, the state government remained ineffective and took no action which probably ensured the involvement of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
''This suspicion gathers more momentum when no action is being taken against the minister or officer even when the corruption is unearthed,'' the duo said.
Ms Jamuna Devi said that she herself wrote several letters to Mr Chouhan since October 11, 2008 the department's budget had been selling under the nexus of health minister and health director.
In its support she also attached a Treasure and Accounts audit report on October 4, 2005 which flaunted the evidences of bungling in National Pulse Polio Mission and other schemes.
''I submitted an affidavit regarding Medicine Purchase scam on April 29 and lodged complaint in Lokayukta.
The income tax raids in the places of people concerned affirms the complaint,'' she added.
