Ferozepur, Jun 2 (UNI) Bahujan Samaj Party supremo and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati today launched the party's Lok Sabha polls preparations in Punjab by announcing candidates for four of the 13 seats for Upper House of the Parliament.
BSP General Secretary Narendra Kashyap told reporters here that according to Ms Mayawati's announcement, Surjit Singh would fight on the party ticket from Jalandhar (reserve) Manjit Singh from Sangrur, Kawal Krishna Chauhan from Anandpur Sahib and Dr Harbhajan Singh from Ferozepur.
Other candidates for rest of the Lok Sabha seats in Punjab would be declared within a month, he said, claiming that BSP would emerge victorious in all the 13 lok sabha seats in the state.
He also said that on the directives of Ms Mayawati, about 10 lakh people would be recruited in BSP's youth wing, who would be posted at the polling booths to check poll malpractices.
In Punjab, there was a target of recruiting at least 30,000 youths, he said.
