Adivasi Mahasangh protests Gujjars' demand for SC status

Barwani, MP, Jun 2 (UNI) Amid myriad agitations by the Gujjar community members in Madhya Pradesh in support of nationwide Gujjar agitation demanding Schedule Tribe (ST) status, the Akhil Bharatiya Adivasi Mahasangh has demanded not to give ST reservation to the community.

Under the leadership of Mahasangh District President Gajanad Brahmane, a rally was carried out in this district's Sendhwa area and a memorandum on the name of state Governor and President was handed over to the Sub Divisional Magistrate Vishnu Kamalkar today.

''The culture, traditions and customs in Gujjar community are different from tribal community. Hence they shall not be inducted in the ST list,'' the memorandum stated.

Claiming Gujjar agitation leader Colonel (retd) Kirori Singh Bhainsla responsible for the deaths of 37 protestors killed during agitation in Rajasthan, the memorandum said that a case of murder should be registered against him.

The Mahasangh demanded to include Pawara, Mankar, Tadavi, Nahal and Dhanka in ST list while they also demanded the exclusion of Meena, Keer, Kewat, Munda, Manjhi tribe.

BJP MLA Diwan Singh Patel and district Congress President Chandrabhaga Kirade were present besides tribal workers and other representatives on the occasion. They condoled the deaths in Gujjar agitation in Rajshthan.
