Mangaldoi, Jun 1 (UNI) The ULFA today killed a village head for allegedly helping the army in a counter-insurgency operation near Kalaigaon of Assam's Darrang district.
According to official source, the killing occurred in Golaghat.
When the village head, Khagen Deka, who was also ex-army personnel, arrived at a market. He was shot from a close range by two ULFA activists.
The deceased had been getting threatening calls since May 2 after an encounter in which a militant and an army jawan were killed near the village. The following day, one ULFA cadre had surrendered before him and he in turn handed him over to army.
