Telangana people taught lesson to TRS: CPI
Hyderabad, Jun 1 (UNI) CPI Andhra Pradesh unit secretary K Narayana today said the people of Telangana had ''taught a lesson'' to the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) by 'defeating' the party in the byelection.
In a release here, Mr Narayana said the formation of Telangana was possible with the support of all political parties, including the ruling Congress, CPI and TDP. The people ''rejected'' the TRS for ''unnecessarily causing'' the byelection with the resignation of the its MLAs and MPs.
Observing that the TRS, by winning seven Assembly seats out of 18 and two Lok Sabha seats out of four, had put up a ''poor'' performance, he said TRS president and former Union Minister K Chandrasekhara Rao had faced a ''moral defeat'' in his Karimnagar seat as he won the seat by 15,000 votes as against the two lakh margin he secured in the 2006 election.
