SP probing police firing on its workers in Ferozabad
Ferozabad, Jun 1 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Samajwadi Party acting president Shivpal Singh Yadav today demanded action against the policemen who fired on the SP workers, who were supporting the Gujjars on their ST status demand here on Friday.
A team led by Mr Yadav, which reached here to gather information about the incident, met the family members of the victims.
Mr Yadav condemned the police action on the SP workers, who were supporting the Gujjars on their reservation demands.
''We will thoroughly investigate the matter and ask the government to take action against the guilty officials,'' he said.
While extending full support to Gujjars, Mr Yadav said the community's demand was genuine and the SP ''is with them''.
On May 30, at least 15 people, including 11 policemen, sustained serious injuries when police opened fire on the Gujjar agitators and their supporters in Ferozabad after they went on rampage and resorted to brick-batting.
