Lucknow, June 1: Union Steel and Fertilizer Minister Ram Vilas Paswan today announced that two units of Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) would be set up in Sitapur and Amethi in Uttar Pradesh.
''The board of SAIL has given its approval for the two steel processing units at Sitapur and Amethi'', he said.
Talking to mediapersons here, Mr Paswan said Rs 300 crore unit each would generate 1,500 employment each.
However, the minister criticised the Mayawati government in UP for not alloting land of 100 acres each for setting up the steel units.'' Now after state government's indifferent attitude to provide land, the SAIL board has decided to purchase the land directly from the farmers'', he said.
Meanwhile, the minister said a new centre of National Institute of Pharmaceutical and Education Research (NIPER) would be established in Rae Bareli along with six other places in the country.
