New Delhi, Jun 01: France-based Mondial Assistance Group, one of the leading global providers of travel insurance and travel medical assistance services said it will enter e-commerce travel insurance sector. The 1.52 billion euro company is already into roadside assistance business in India and has partnered with premier car manufacturers like Volvo, Honda Siel and more recently with Mercedes Benz.
''Indian market is now ripe for these kind of services and we are going to increase our focus on the local market,'' Group President Remi Grenier told reporters. The company which is in its nascent stage, has a fleet of 45 vehicles comprising of flat bed recovery trucks, customer service vehicle, and customised bikes with operations in 14 cities.
Apart from the 14 cities, the services are available all across the country through a service provider model. So, the next time while travelling by road, your Honda Siel car breaks down, there is no need to panic as Mondial Assistance promises service within 35-40 minutes after receiving the complaint. The company though has tied up with very few manufacturers, is in talks with major car manufaccturers in the country to provide services to the customers.
The typical service that Mondial offers is road assistance through tie-ups with car manufacturers. The contract with specific car manufacturers ensures one the services free of cost for a minimum period of one year in case of accident or car breakdown. Mondial currently has a headcount of 160 people in India and plans to increase it to 500 by year end. The company also plans to open a BPO sometime soon.
