Karunakaran to meet Sonia over supporters' inclusion
New Delhi Jun 1 (UNI) Worried over the delay in accomodating his supporters who returned to the Congress along with him six months back, veteran Congress leader K Karunakaran will meet party president Sonia Gandhi tomorrow to discuss the issue.
As a prelude, Mr Karunakaran today held a round of discussion with AICC general secretary in charge of Kerela Mohsina Kidwai on the issue.
Mr Karunakaran, a three-time chief minister of Kerela, was recently re-inducted into the Congress Working Committee (CWC) after he returned to the party fold four years after he floated his own party- Democratic Indira Congress. Though he was given a berth in the CWC, the highest policy-making body of the Congress, none of his supporters were given any party post or position.
Yesterday, he attended a meeting of the CWC for the first time in five years.
AICC general secretary Rahul Gandhi today paid a courtesy visit on him at the Kerela House here.
Mr Karunakaran today called on Defence Minister A K Anthony, who was hospitalised here after he fainted at a National Defence Academy function at Pune yesterday.
