ITI students protest lapse in hostel facilities
Haldia, Jun 01: Inmates of the hostel of Industrial Technical Institute here today turned violent as they openly protested against the "prolonged lapse in basic facilities of the hostel".
However, police arrived at the spot when the hostel authoirites complained of students vandalising hostel property.
More than 50 students had gathered in front of the hostel and shouted slogans and broke a few window panes of the building. Police was soon called in to bring the mob under control.
While the students complained that basic amenities like food and electricity supply was not available, authorities asked the police to "do whatever to bring the mob under control".
Reportedly, one student was injured in the lathicharge, however more details were awaited.
