FNJ in talks with India for release of Australian journalist
Kathmandu, Jun 1 (UNI) Representatives from Federation of Nepalese Journalists (FNJ) held consultations with Indian officials for the release of Australian journalist Paul William Jordan, who is facing jail term in India since last week, media reports said here today.
Jordan, who had come to Nepal on the invitation of FNJ, was arrested from Jogbani, India, for crossing the border, along with post scribe Ujjwal Acharya, Kantipur reports said.
FNJ team had held discussions with legal experts and journalists from India for Jordan's release.
Earlier, a team from the Australian Embassy in India had visited Jordan in the prison where he was being held.
Jordan, who is also the security officer of International Federation of Journalists, was invited to Nepal for facilitating training to Nepalese journalists.
A three-member team has been formed by FNJ central committee under Kishor Kumar Karki to work for Jordan's release.
