Bomb found near stadium, IPL final on schedule

Mumbai, Jun 1: Terror threat to DLF Indian Premier League (IPL) final match which was on June 2. A crude bomb was found on May 31 in Vishnudas Bhave Auditorium in Vashi area of Navi Mumbai. The threatre is just 10 km away from the Nehrul's DY Patil stadium that will host the IPL final on Sunday. Mumbai police claims to have diffused the bomb.

The crude bomb was recovered at around 1900 hrs (IST) last night while a show was on at the auditorium. The bomb is said to have made of amonium nitrate and kerosene. The theatre was evacuated at around 2100 hrs (IST) and a bomb detection squad defused the bomb.“When we got the news of the bomb, we got alert and came with the force to defuse the bomb. Initially it was a difficult task but then we succeeded in the same," said DCP R D Shinde.

Security is tightened in and around stadium. BCCI said IPL final match between Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royal is as per schedule.
