Yeddyurappa console Lorry accident victims
Hassan, Karnataka, May 31 (UNI) Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa today visited the hospital where the injured victims of the lorry tragedy, that killed 40 persons and left more than 50 persons injured near Arkalgud in the district on Thursday, are being treated.
The Chief Minister made a on the spot announcement solatium of Rs one lakh to the dead, Rs 50,000 to 25 seriously injured and Rs 20,000 for the 14 other injured persons. He also distributed cheques to the injured.
He later visited Basavanahalli village from where the victims were going to attend a marriage feast in the neighbouring village.
The accident occurred when the vehicle, carrying more than 100 people of a marriage party rolled down into a 50-foot ditch when the driver tried to avoid coming in contact with low lying high tension wire.
