Thundershowers in Kerala, Lakshadweep

Pune, May 31 (UNI) Rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at many places in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, coastal and interior Karnataka, Kerala, Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Lakshadweep.

They are also likely to occur at a few places in Gangetic West Bengal,Jharkhand, south Konkan, Goa, Andhra Pradesh, north interior Karnataka,and at isolated places in Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarkhand, Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, north Konkan, south Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada and Tamil Nadu.

Mainly dry weather is likely to prevail over Gujarat state and north Madhya Maharashtra.

The south-west monsoon set in over Kerala today and has advanced further into most parts of south Arabian Sea, Kerala, some parts of Tamil Nadu and some more parts of southwest and west central Bay.

Also, conditions are favourable for its further advance over remaining parts of Kerala, some more parts of Tamil Nadu, some parts of Karnataka and parts of northeast India during next 2 to 3 days.

Heat wave conditions prevailed in some parts of south coastal Andhra Pradesh, and at isolated places in south Gujarat region and east Vidarbha. Hot day conditions also prevailed at isolated places in north coastal Andhra Pradesh and coastal Tamil Nadu.

In the regions where the south-west monsoon is yet to set in, the day temperatures were appreciably to markedly above normal in Assam, Meghalaya, south Bihar, Telangana, and in parts of north coastal Orissa and coastal Tamil Nadu.

The temperatures were above normal in north east Madhya Pradesh, Konkan, Goa, south Madhya Maharashtra, parts of coastal Saurasthra and in remaining parts of Vidarbha. They were appreciably to markedly below normal in parts of north Rajasthan and were below normal in parts of Haryana. They were, however, normal over the rest of the country.

Rain or thundershowers had occurred at most places in Assam, Meghalaya, Kerala, Lakshadweep, and at many places in Sub-Himalayan, West Bengal, Sikkim and coastal Karnataka. They had occurred at few places in Arunachal Pradesh, Gangetic West Bengal and Andaman and Nicobar Islands, and at isolated places in Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Orissa, Jharkhand, Punjab, east Rajasthan, west Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Konkan, Goa, coastal Andhra Pradsh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, south and north interior Karnataka.

Mainly dry weather prevailed over Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarkhand, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, west Rajasthan, east Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Gujarat state, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada and Rayalaseema.
