Jaipur, May 31 (UNI) Talks between Rajasthan government and the Gujjar leaders on the issue of including the community in Scheduled Tribe category are expected to begin tomorrow, a government spokesperson said here tonight.
''We are in constant touch with the close associates and contacts of Gujjar Reservation Action Committee Convener Col Kirodi Singh Bainsla and the talks can begin anytime tomorrow,'' he told UNI.
The government had not only shown flexible attitude over Col Bainsla's demand for autopsy of those killed in the police firing by a team of doctors from AIIMS but also sent to the Centre Rajasthan Cabinet's formal proposal in favour of four to six per cent reservation to Gujjars and others under Nomadic Non Scheduled Tribes, he said.
This proposal substantiated Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje's letter to the Prime Minister recommending reservation for Gujjars under this new group, he said.
Meanwhile, reports have said Col Bainsla has already promised to withdraw the agitation if he was convinced over the draft of the letter and the proposal. Editors pick up suitably from earlier stories.
