Royals success due to Team spirit: Berry

By Staff

Mumbai, May 31 (UNI) Expressing his happiness after Rajasthan Royals reached the IPL final, director of coaching Darren Berry felt that his team's success in the tournament was due to the environment in the dressing room in which all the players have been given equal importance.

''In team meetings we have spoken about walking on the edge and told them if they fall we will catch,'' he said at the launch of the Emerging Media Cricket Star Twenty20 Season 3 here today.

He further said they have proved everyone wrong by reaching the final of the IPL due to the management's fine handling of the players and ensuring that all of them are treated equally.

Asked about the influence of Warne in the team's dreamlike passage into the summit clash, Berry said the legendary spinner has groomed youngsters like Dinesh Salunkhe, Swapnil Asnodkar and Ravindra Jadeja.

''When Dinesh Salunkhe (who won the first edition of the talent contest) sits next to Shane Warne in the dressing room they are brothers. That's the major factor in Rajasthan Royals' success in the tournament,'' he said.

Berry also dispelled notions that twenty-20 cricket will affect the traditional form of the game.

''The basic skills remain the same. The important thing is how one adapts to the different formats and we have shown it with our results in this tournament,'' he explained.
