Lalu promises world class Railway infrastructure in Punjab
Chandigarh, May 31 (UNI) Union Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav today agreed, in principle, to create world class Railway infrastructure in Punjab.
Under the project, upgradation of the existing railway stations and construction of a series of new overbridges and under bridges would be taken up throughout the state among other development, the Railway minister assured Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal during a meeting in New Delhi.
The Railway minister said since Punjab was a border state, it was the endeavour of his Ministry to strengthen its network which would not only bring prosperity in the state but also boost the prospects of agriculture and industry considerably.
Mr Badal urged the Railway Minister for raising and re-modelling of 17 culverts railway bridges in the four districts of Muktsar, Ferozepur, Bathinda and Faridkot and upgradation of railway station of Jalandhar and Ludhiana as per international standard.
