Patna, May 31 (UNI) Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today announced cash prize of Rs one lakh to IIT Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) topper Shitikanth and wished him a successful career ahead.
Shitikanth would also be awarded with Bihar Gaurav Samman for his splendid performance in one of the toughest entrance examinations for admission in premier educational institutions of the country.
'' You have added a new feather to Bihar's glory and I wish you to excel in your academic career to bring laurels for the country, '' Mr Kumar told Shitikanth during a brief interaction with him.
'' There is no dearth of talent in Bihar and by securing first position in the prestigous entrance examination for IIT institutions, Shitikanth has proved this fact once again, '' the Chief Minister said.
The state government would ensure that educational institutions par excellence come up in the state to actuate the dreams of students aspiring for higher technical and professional careers.
Earlier, Shitikanth called on the Chief Minister along with his mother Dr Anita and sister Amidha at his residence and sought blessing from him in pursuing his engineering studies.
Shitikanth was declared first when result for IIT JEE was annouced yesterday.
He had also been selected to represent India in the Physics Olympiad scheduled to be held in Vietnam later this year.
