HP minister gets Rashtriya Gaurav Award
Shimla, May 31 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh's Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Sarveen Chaudhary has been honoured with ''Rashtriya Gaurav Award'' for her contributions in social development, women upliftment and welfare of Scheduled Castes and Tribes during the last one decade.
Former Tamil Nadu governor Bisham Narayan SIngh conferred the award on Ms Sarveen at a glittering function at New Delhi.
Speaking on the occasion, Ms Chaudhary said the re-allotment of cultivable land under Land Reforms Act to eligible cultivators and farmers would go a long way in eradicating poverty from the society.
Accepting that despite widening the economy of the states, the gap between the rich and the poor had widened over the years and was a matter of concern.
Ms Chaudhary also laid emphasis on special attention to agricultural sector with private participation and said this would bring about a qualitative change in the production of foodgrains.
