Elections to five K'taka Council seats on June 26
Bangalore, May 31 (UNI) The Election Commission has announced dates for the elections to fill five seats in the Karnataka Legislative Council, including a by-election to one seat from Dakshina Kannada Local authorities.
Biennial elections would be held for four constituencies of South-East and West Graduates and Karnataka North-East and Bangalore Teachers constituencies on June 26.
The elections to the four constituencies were held as the term of four sitting members ends on June 30.
The members, who will complete their term, are Sashil Namoshi of BJP (North East Graduate), H K Patil of Congress (West Graduate) and H S Shivashankar of JD(S) (North-East Teachers) and K S Puttanna of JD(S) (Bangalore Teachers).
Elections to fill a casual vacancy arisen due to the death of Congress member Blasius M D'Souza would be held from Dakshina Kannada Local bodies constituency on the same date.
The EC, which had issued notification for the election, fixed June 9 as the last date for filing nominations and June 12 for withdrawals.
