Jaunpur, May 31: Mentioning the recent broad daylight murder of District Inspector of School (DIoS) here, senior Congress leader and former Maharashtra's minister of state (Home) Kripa Shankar Singh today raised finger at the poor law and order situation in Uttar Pradesh.
Addressing mediapersons, Mr Singh said, ''it is sad to note that crime rate is rapidly increasing in the state. The manner in which Jaunpur DIoS D C Pandey was gunned down makes us feel insecure.'' ''Now, if these are the conditions, then how can a common man feel safe,'' the Congress leader added.
The Mayawati led-UP government has failed at every front, Mr Singh alleged adding, she even failed in proper implementation of Centre's beneficial National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS).
Rebuffing the state governments' allegations against Central government, he charged the former for misutilising funds provided by the Centre.'' ''Ms Mayawati is busy spending money on installation of busts, while the truth is that poor farmers are facing utter penury in the state,'' Mr Singh claimed.
