London, May 31 : While guzzling four lager cans, Kyle Whyte would have never imagined that his high intake of booze will actually save him from a deadly car crash.
The 21-yar-old salesman had a close shave with death when he was crushed against a nursery school wall when he'd been out drinking beer.
However, the intoxicating fluid actually helped him from dying from shock and it even balanced for the huge loss of blood he suffered from the accident.
"I never thought lager would save my life. This is the one time drinking was good for me," The Sun quoted him, as saying.
Kyle, the resident of Oswaldtwistle, Lancs, was hit by a car, which ascended the pavement and the accident left him with broken skull, eye sockets, jaw, nose, cheeks, neck, ribs, knees and shins. However, thanks to his 21-year-old fiancee, who kept him conscious till medical help came.
Then he stayed into a medical coma for four days, while surgeons attached metal plates to his bones to help him heal faster.
"If I have any more metal put in me, I'll be starring in the next Terminator film," he said.
While the driver has been interviewed but not arrested, the police said that they are continuing with the investigation.
