We will not accept another autocrat: NSU
Kathmandu, May 30: Nepali Congress affiliated leaders of the Nepal Students Union (NSU) have warned that another autocrat was likely to be at the helm after autocratic monarchy was toppled. ''We need to be aware not to give a chance to another autocrat to be at the helm after toppling autocrat Gyanendra,'' The Himalayan Times quoted Gajendra Karki, general secretary of NSU as saying.
While addressing a mass meeting organised at Ratna Park to welcome the implementation of republic he said we will not accept Communist autocracy. Mr Karki also urged all the democratic forces to remain cautious and said the struggle has not ended yet. He also warned Gyanendra Shah to vacate the Narayanhiti right away or face the people's wrath.
General secretary of Nepal Tarun Dal Krishna Parajuli congratulated Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala for guiding all political parties to democracy.
''Palace used to support Maoist movement but Mr Koirala used the same Maoists to destroy the palace,'' he said.
NC youth leaders and CA member Shobhakar Parajuli said Nepal witnessed the blood-less transformation under the leadership of NC.
