Karachi, May 30 : If the US did not shun its imperialist designs in Pakistan, the latter would become a Waterloo for the US administration, said veteran Pakistani politician Rasool Bux Palijo.
He was apparently referring to the US forces' presence in Pakistan, and arrest Pakistanis at their will.
"We, the people of Pakistan love American citizens but we love to hate World Imperialistic powers. Not a single Pakistani is safe. Whenever they want, they may arrest any Pakistani citizen. They may arrest you and me," the Daily Times quoted him as saying at the Karachi Press Club.
Palijo said that Pakistanis wanted freedom from US imperialism because they understand that Pakistan has not become a free and independent nation so far. The rulers of the country followed what the US dictated, he said and added that it was an uphill task to liberate Pakistan in real terms.
The Thatta-born politician is an expert on legal affairs and he has authored books and articles opposing the Kalabagh Dam project on legal and technical grounds. Even though he was a central leader of Khan Abdul Wali Khan's Awami National Party and also contested the 1990 Elections as the ANP's nominee, he is considered a Sindh-based party leader.
