TN Govt's plea to cable TV operators
Chennai, May 30 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu government today urged Cable TV operators in the state to join hands with state government's ''Arasu Cable TV Corporation'' and provide cable connections to people throughout the state.
An official release here said the government, which had established the Corporation as a Multi-System Operator (MSO), proposed to launch the cable TV service on July 15 and cover the state in phases by end of September.
To take up the task of providing connections to the public, the government has decided to involve the existing cable TV operators and asked them to express their interest by June 9.
After the ''expression of interest'' advertisement, the cable TV operators had called on Chief Minister M Karunanidhi and assured him of their cooperation.
As per their assurance, they should come forward to extend their cooperation to the government to successfully implement the scheme, the release said.
It said the government had already floated tenders to procure equipment like ''Digital Cable Head Ends'' for providing cable TV connections in districts.
A separate tender will be invited for purchasing necessary equipment for providing cable service in the city on June 15, the release added.
