Slight improvement in pass percentage in Pondy
Puducherry,May 30 (UNI) The Union Territory registered a slight increase in pass percentage in SSLC examination, the results of which were announced today.
As many as 12,317 students of the 15,512 (79.40 per cent) passed the examination as compared to 78.91 per cent last year, Education Minister M O H F Shajahan told the media here.
This marked a slight enhancement of 0.49 per cent in pass percentage, he said.
Mr Shajahan said of the 7,606 boys, who appeared for the examination, 5,801 passed. As many as 6,516 girls out of 7,906 cleared the examination.
M Jayaraj (492 marks) bagged the first rank while five students with 490 marks shared the second spot. Two students with 489 came third.
Only one government school registered cent per cent pass percentage while ten in Puducherry region and two in Karaikal recorded more than 90 per cent pass. They would get a cash prize of Rs one lakh.
In the Matriculation examination, 1,225 of the 1,253 students who had appeared passed, registering 97.77 pass percentage compared to 96.97 per cent last year.
Preethi Philip and Sindu Ravindra of the St Josephs of Cluny School with 485 and 483 marks bagged the first and second positions respectively in the Union Territory.
