London, May 30 : England coach Fabio Capello plans to talk to striker Wayne Rooney in a bid to channel his natural aggression.
Rooney was sent off against Portugal in the 2006 World Cup and, in Wednesday's friendly win against the United States, his temper flared on several occasions.
Indeed the England manager had to talk to Rooney at half time during the 2-0 victory over the United States on Wednesday, asking him to calm down after a reckless first-half challenge that could have led to a dismissal.
The warning went unheeded and Rooney was cautioned after the break for another tackle before being withdrawn, in a substitution that was planned before the game, after 79 minutes.
However such is Capello's concern over Rooney that he admitted afterwards that the Manchester United striker has even endangered teammates in training.
Capello said that the temper that Rooney claims is under control again threatens to derail England.
