Patiala beat Amritsar in semis

Patiala, May 30 (UNI) Patiala managed to beat Amritsar in a crucial semi-final match of the Punjab Inter-District cricket tournament (Under-16) for M L Markan Trophy by virtue of first innings lead here today at the Dhruv Pandove Cricket Stadium.

After skittling out Amritsar for a paltry 122 yesterday, Patiala, overnight 80 for 3 in 40 overs, went on at a snail pace to overtake Amritsar's total and were bowled out for 170 in 84.2 overs.

The main scorens for Patiala were Gauravpreet (28), Manpreet Singh (26), Pradeep (18) and Sodhi (17).

For Amritsar, Vinay Chowdhary bowled exceedingly well to bag 4 for 29 and was well supported by K Passi 2 for 37 and Navneet Singh 2 for 19.

In the second essay, which was of academic interest, Amritsar scored 22 for 1.

Patiala will now take on Chandigarh in the final to be played in Mohali on June 1.
