Imphal, May 30 (UNI) The State Cabinet has decided to set up a National Institute of Technology (NIT) at Langol area, Imphal, amidst stiff resistance from people settled in the area.
Official sources here today said that the decision was taken at a meeting held here last evening that was presided over by Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh.
The compensation would be given at the rate of Rs 43.27 per sq ft for residential area and Rs 10.72 per sq ft for agricultural land at Langol, Imphal.
The Cabinet has also begun working on the draft of the Manipur Loktak Lake Protection Rules, 2008, sources said.
The Cabinet meeting also recommended recruitment of 23 SIs, 15 ASIs, 695 Constables, 176 Constable Drivers, 14 sweepers and 21 Cooks.
