Mumbai, May 30: Three people were injured when a group of alleged MNS activists pelted stones at a public meeting organised by the Samajwadi Party at Goregaon here late last night, police said.
Police have arrested eight MNS activists in this connection. They were identified as Deepak Prabhakar Surve (48), Virendra Vijay Jadhav (32), Chandrakant Vitthal Parte (45), Yaswant Sakharam Gawde (30), Nilesh Ramesh Palav (25), Ghanshyam Bharat Parab (34), Surendra Ganpat Gawde (30) and Mohammed Nisar Shaikh (43).
Police said at the public meeting, a speaker, Dayashankar Yadav, had allegedly used abusive language against MNS chief Raj Thackeray.
A group of MNS activists, who were present at the venue, were angered by pelted stones towards the dais and overturned chairs.
Three persons -- Devendrakumar Jayram Singh (52), Virendrakumar Yadav (26) and Rajesh Kotwal Singh (35) -- were suffered minor injuries in the stone pelting.
The MNS has, meanwhile, lodged a cross complaint and over 20 Samajwadi Party activists, including Dayashankar Yadav, have been named in the complaint.
