Melbourne, May 30 : A Japanese man got the shock of his life when he discovered a woman had been living in his closet for about a year.
The woman, 58-year-old Tatsuko Horikawa, has been arrested for sneaking into the man's house and living in his closet without his permission.
Police found Horikawa living in a small storage space in the house in the southern city of Fukuoka.
The house belonged to a 57-year-old man, who had become suspicious after food disappeared from his fridge.
Thus he installed a security camera and called the police when he saw images of someone walking around his home while he was out.
On May 28, police searched the house and found the woman in her cubby hole, where she had sneaked a mattress and several plastic bottles.
"She told police that she had nowhere to live. She seems to have lived there for about a year, but not all the time," The Australian quoted a local police spokesman, as saying.
