Kolkata, May 30(UNI) The India-Bangladesh bus service from Kolkata to Dhaka resumed today after remaining suspended from April.
"The bus service between the two countries resumed today. Our agreement with our older franchise expired in April and we were dissatisfied with their service. The bus service was kept suspended awaiting a new franchise," West Bengal Surface Transport Corporation Limited (WBSTCL) Additional Chief Secretary Sumantra Chowdhury said.
Mr Chowdhury said the new franchise was Koushik Logistics, a Kolkata-based organisation that runs the Royal Cruiser Volvo Bus Service.
Two Royal Cruiser buses will run between Salt Lake on the city's eastern fringe and Dhaka on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. There will be 45 passengers on each trip.
The buses leaving Kolkata in the morning will reach Dhaka by afternoon the same day. The tickets have been priced at Rs.1,090 for a two way journey.
