Indian men defeat Malaysia to win World Cup

New Delhi, May 30 (UNI) The Indian men recurve team rewrote history today as they defeated Malaysia to lift the World Cup at Antalya, Turkey.

However, it is worth noting that all the team members belong to Jharkhand.

In the semi-finals Rahul Banerjee, Mangal Singh Champia and Jayanta Talukdar had defeated Chinese Taipei 218-210.

In the first round, Indian men took on Kazakhstan and won comprehensively 224-219 while in the second round, the Indians outplayed the US 221-211 and then followed it with another victory over Chinese Taipei in the third round.

Meanwhile, in men's individual contest, India's Rahul Banerjee narrowly missed a second successive World Cup final appearance with a one point loss to the United States archer Bardy Ellison in the semifinal.

Though, the Indian women's recurve team, consisting Dola Banerjee, Reena Kumari and L Bombayla Devi, lost in the first round to Japan at 191-193.
