Chennai, May 30 (UNI) Indian juniors kept the country's flag flying high winning the girls Under-15 and boy's Under-13 titles at the Milo All Star Malaysian Junior Open Squash Championship held in Kuala Lumpur.
There was more good news for India as Ravi Dixit won the silver in Boys under-17 and Anwesha Reddy, the bronze in girls under-17.
Aparajitha Balamurugan (girls under-15), a student of Church Park School, Chennai and Kush Kumar (boys under 13), studying at Hamdard Public School, New Delhi, wriggled themselves out of tight situations to emerge triumphant in their respective categories i four tight games.
Aparajitha, seeded 5/8, defeated Jemyca Aribado of Philippines 9-1, 7-9, 9-3, 9-3 to win her maiden title, while Kush, who dropped only one game in the tournament, defeated Cheuk Hin Lo Chris from Hong Kong 1-9, 9-4, 10-9, 9-0.
Earlier, Aparajitha defeated third seed Ka Yie Lee (Hong Kong) 9-5, 9-4, 2-9, 6-9, 9-5, in a quarter final match and second seed Dijo Sarah Sexton (Australia) 5-9, 10-8, 9-7, 9-0 in the semis.
In the quarters, Kush beat Man Ho Tse (Hong Kong) 9-3, 9-2, 9-7 and then defeated second seed Ka Ho Pang (Singapore) 9-7, 9-5, 9-6 in the semi finals.
Ravi Dixit training at the ICL Squash Academy in Chennai won the silver medal in the boys under-17 category. He lost to Danish Atlas Khan of Pakistan 0-9, 2-9, 0-9 in the final.
Anwesha Reddy won the bronze medal in the girls under 17 category and Roshan Kumarakanna got the fourth place in the boys under 11 category.
