IIITs to start functioning from August: IT Secretary

Hyderabad, May 30: Work on the Andhra Pradesh Government's prestigious Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) in three regions of the state was on schedule and they will start functioning from August this year, State Information Technology and Communications Principal Secretary Shailender Kumar Joshi said today.

Over Rs 3,250 crore would be invested in these institutes in the next three to five years as part of the state government's efforts to develop human resources required by the IT sector, he told reporters here.

Admissions to the three IIITs would be finalised in the next couple of days, he said, adding in all, 6000 students with rural background would be admitted to these IIITs coming up in Kadapa in Rayalaseema region, Basara in Telangana region and Nuziveedu in Coastal Andhra region.
