Haryana seeks entries for National Youth Awards
Chandigarh, May 30 (UNI) Haryana Sports and Youth Affairs Department has invited proposals for National Youth Awards, 2007-08 from two youths and two voluntary organisations from each district.
Disclosing this here today a spokesman of the Haryana Sports and Youth Affairs Department said that 25 youths in the age group of 13 to 35 years, who had achieved outstanding achievments in the field of national development and social service would be conferred the National Youth Award by the Central Government.
He said that each youth would get a cash award of Rs 20,000, one medal and a scroll. Similarly, a voluntary organisation would get a cash award of Rs one lakh, one trophy and a scroll.
The spokesman said the state government had constituted District and State Level Selection Committees for the selection of the youths and voluntary organisation.
He further informed that the proposals and nominations should reach the Directorate latest by July 15, 2008.
National Youth Award is given every year on the first day of the National Youth Festival on January 12 on the occasion of birth anniversary of Swami Vivekanand.
